Cupcakes by Sonja

I couldn't understand why Ms T was so smitten with these strawberry shortcake cupcakes that we featured in one of our photo shoots for the November ish.

I wasn't there on the shoot (darn!) so I didn't get to taste these treats from Sonja's Bakeshop. Ms T couldn't stop craving for them! My curiosity got the better of me, so I sneaked out of the office with her this afternoon to check out the soft opening of Cupcakes by Sonja in Serendra.

One word: Heavenly!

I especially liked the chocolate cupcakes (forgot what they're called... something like Chocolate Surprise) with rich chocolate frosting. Though if it weren't for the frosting, they wouldn't have been extraordinary.

The catch? They're quite pricey. Each strawberry cupcake goes for P75 each. The chocolate ones are P62. The vanilla cupcakes are P55.

  1. I'd recommend the Flourless Chocolate cupcake. Worth every peso.

  2. Serendra, across Market Market - you know, the development with the yellow buildings? Open 3-9pm while it's in it's dry run period. Sonja bakes everything on the premises as of now, so she bakes all morning and is ready to sell her items by 3pm pa.

  4. Masarap din yung pistachio niya - may natikman akong sample, kasi hindi pa siya available sa ngayon. It's like a mousse really. Watch out for it!

  5. Nagtaas siya ng presyo ng flourless choco cupcake. P98 per piece na ngayon. Masarap siya talaga pero at this price I'll have it less often. =(

  7. Kasi, sabi ng staff niya, mali daw ang costing niya when she opened. Sana namakyaw ako bago tinaasan yung presyo. *SIGH*

  8. hey lulu, i attended an event in Shops at Serendra last Wednesday, and Sonja was giving out cupcakes. I chose the strawberries and cream of course. Kakaaddict! Meron rin mini cupcakes sa dessert table ng buffet, i was finally able to taste the flourless choco cupcake! heaven talaga!

saya nung event, we went "trick or treating" around The Shops.

  9. Giving out...as in for free?!? UNBELIEVEABLE!!! Nakakainggit. =) Am glad you finally got around to trying the flourless choco. It's my fave pa rin, despite the price tag. It still beats the price of Max Brenner's flourless choco souffle. =P

  12. Suggestion: go on a weekday - and even better on a weeknight, after work - para walang pila. Weekend lines there are HELL. They might run out of the flavors you want to order and since everything's baked in small batches, you might have to wait 30-40 minutes for the flavor you want to be ready.

  13. Masarap din ang Red Velvet Vixen niya. It's a reddish cupcake made with Belgian chocolate and topped with a cream cheese frosting similar to the one used on carrot cake. It's a traditional cake from the American South. ;-)

  14. marami bang flavors ng cupcake? do they have assorted flavors in a box?

  15. Marami. Maybe around 20 flavors, but not everything is available everyday. Maybe call ahead of time to check on what flavors are available. You can customize what goes into your box.
